Fadairo is accused of shooting Essien to death after an argument outside a strip center in the 5500 block of El Camino Del Rey and Chimney Rock on Tuesday, September 20. Investigators say Fadairo admitted that he had known Essien for about 30 years and even used the victim’s home address to receive mail.

“(Fadairo) stated the argument started from (Essien) owing him money,” court documents Read

According to the police, Essien and Fadairo had a meeting on the day of the incident during which there was a disagreement between the two men, which resulted in Fadairo killing Essien and fleeing the scene in Essien’s SUV while the deceased’s 2-year-old son was still strapped into a car seat.

The victim’s wife alerted authorities that her husband and son were missing about five hours later. She was able to offer details about her husband’s car, which helped the police locate it roughly a mile from the scene of the incident.

Charging documents said the car was locked, and the windows were rolled up as outdoor temperatures reached 93 degrees. The cause of the boy’s death has yet to be ascertained, but it is believed that he died from heat exhaustion.

Essien’s sister, Jessie Okon, revealed that the deceased shared two other children with his wife: a 5-year-old son and a 1-week-old baby.

“Michael never argued with anybody. Michael would take his shirt off and give to others. He gives his last dime to other people. All I need is my brother”, she said

Bolanle Fadairo Charged For Murder of Michael and Micah Essien

Bolanle Fadairo, 38, has been charged with two counts of murder — one for 38-year-old Michael Essien and the second for Essien’s 2-year-old son Micah — and tampering with evidence, KHOU reports.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the Houston dad apparently got into an argument with his killer Tuesday afternoon, according to police. After the shooting, the suspect fled in Essien’s SUV, which police later found abandoned, with the doors locked and the windows rolled up, charging documents say. The toddler inside was dead.

Police were unaware a toddler was involved until Essien’s wife called 911 several hours after the murder to report her husband and child missing. The vehicle was found about 30 minutes later.

The documents say Fadairo allegedly tried to destroy text messages, KTRK reported.

Essien’s sister, Jessie Okon, told KHOU that her brother had two other children — a 5-year-old son and a 1-week-old infant.

Sources told the station that Fadairo and Essien were acquainted and that both worked as security guards. Sources also said that Fadairo claimed Essien owned him money.

Toddler Who Died in His Stolen SUV Just Welcomed New Baby to Family

A Houston family stunned by the news that a 2-year-old boy and his dad were found dead Tuesday is struggling to understand how this could happen.

The bodies of 38-year-old Michael Essien and his son Micah were found hours apart at two separate scenes in the Gulfton area of southwest Houston.

“Tell Houston, tell the whole world that I want my nephew back. He’s only 2 years old. He does not know how to hurt a fly,” Jessie Okon, the toddler’s aunt, told us Wednesday. She doesn’t understand why anyone would kill Michael either.

“My brother has always been a peaceful man. I need my brother back.”

Michael was shot Tuesday afternoon on El Camino Del Rey Street near Chimney Rock Road. At the time, police had no idea his SUV had been taken with the 2-year-old inside.

Michael’s wife called Wednesday evening to report her husband and child were missing, and that’s when officers found the SUV on Elm Street near Renwick Drive. The little boy was unresponsive in the backseat and efforts to revive him failed.

News that a man had been arrested and charged in the case Wednesday was little consolation to the victims’ heartbroken family.

“And for him, mostly for my nephew, God will give him his reward,” Okon said.

Micah’s cousin said he was a happy-go-lucky little boy.

“Micah is always cheerful, wants to be around someone – at church, always happy,” Etimbuk Isaiah said.

Essien and his wife recently welcomed another baby and they also have an older son.

“She’s hanging on is all I can say. It’s a difficult thing to process right now and so tragic because nobody wakes up planning to die,” Etimbuk Isaiah, a cousin, said. “And just taking it one day at a time, that’s all I can say.”

Family members say Essien attended Hastings High School, attended college as an athlete and worked at a security company. He was wearing his security guard uniform when he was killed.
